Our small group day and evening classes are the ideal way to learn French. Enrol
On joining:
Every new student who is not a complete beginner is assessed as they join (a free and friendly meeting) to establish their level so that they are assigned to exactly the right class.
the CEFR:
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is used increasingly but its levels are too broad for grouping learners into classes.
We divide our syllabus into levels labelled 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 2a, 2b and so on. Each of the levels 1a through to 4 is 30 hours of tuition. Level 5 is more open ended and organised in themes such as politics and current affairs, literature, perfecting the language to native levels of fluency etc.
Equivalences with our teaching levels are shown in the table below. To fully reach an attainment of A2, for example, you would need to complete our syllabus to level 2B.

Terms & Conditions:
Payment:
Payment must be received in full before attending classes; a course place is not confirmed until payment is received. Alliance Française de Londres does not accept payment by instalments.
Cancellation:
Alliance Française de Londres does not accept responsibility for changes in student circumstances that may prevent them from attending their courses. Fees can neither be refunded nor held in credit for a future course if you withdraw after a course has started. There will be no partial refund for classes not attended by the student for whatever reason. However, you may only cancel if notice is given in writing no later than one day before the course starts. The class fee will then be refunded minus a £75 administrative fee. The Alliance Française de Londres may cancel a course before it starts when there are insufficient student numbers. In that case only, fees will be refunded in full. If the Alliance Française de Londres has to cancel a course after it has started due to circumstances beyond its control then fees will then be refunded pro rata.
Postponement:
You may only postpone taking a course if notice is given in writing no later than one day before the course starts. A £50 administrative fee will apply. No credit or refund will be given on or after the day a course has started.
The Alliance Française de Londres reserves the right to refuse admission.
Each course is a 30 hour level and each 12 week term you can choose to take a course as follows:
Once a week: one level over 12 weeks
Twice a week: one level in 6 weeks (and so two levels in a 12 week term if you take consecutive courses)
Intensive: one level in 2 weeks (and so potentially 6 levels in a 12 week term)
Saturdays: one level in 12 weeks
There is no VAT on our fees which includes a course book with accompanying CD. We use the five volume Alter Ego series, which takes you from complete beginner to advanced level. The book was written by Alliance française teachers in Paris and is the ideal text for the Alliance française method which follows the recommendations of the Common European Framework for Languages.
We run a six week summer term from 14 July to 23 August 2014. Click here for a pdf brochure.
